+ Showtime, home of pot comedy Weeds, is hoping for another drug-related hit: Oscar winner Tim Robbins will exec-produce, write, and direct Possible Side Effects, a pilot about ”three brothers who willingly and unwillingly build a mom-and-pop pharmacy into what may become a dynasty,” says exec producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas (Mona Lisa Smile). ”It’s family dynamics compounded with the politics of big business.”

+ Adrien Brody (The Darjeeling Limited) and Sarah Polley (Away From Her) are set to star in the sci-fi thriller Splice as a scientist couple that cooks up creatures by crossing animal and human DNA. ”They’re cutting-edge manipulators,” says director Vincenzo Natali. ”They’re the Bonnie and Clyde of genetics.”

+ Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas will team up as crooks in The Code. ”Two master thieves pull off this great heist, very much in the vein of Rififi,” says director Mimi Leder (Deep Impact). ”Lots of twists and turns. It’ll be sizzling.”
