Hey, PopWatchers, results from the first weekend of’s fall Box Office Challenge are in! Big congratulations to the winner of this round, Lauren F. from New Jersey (pictured), who beat out hundreds of players by predicting a particularly wacky weekend at the box office better than anyone else. In fact, just 10 percent of all participants accurately guessed that The Game Plan would become an upset winner, while a whopping 70 percent of folks went with my bet that Ben Stiller’s The Heartbreak Kid would triumph rather than tank (which it did). And then there was the single die-hard Jackie Chan fan who picked Rush Hour 3 to finish at No. 1 — nine weeks after it opened (the action comedy wound up in 21st place). Bless you, my friend.

Anyway, here’s a reminder that if you want to get in on the action, you know, join in the fun of proving my weekly picks wrong, just log onto the Box Office Challenge and make your calls by 8 p.m. ET each Friday. Winners are revealed on Monday evenings (and can have their pictures posted in this space on Wednesdays). Oh, and, I’m sorry, but there’ll be no bonus points for playing the game upside down.
