Exiled, by noted director Johnnie To (Triad Election), is one of those wearisome Hong Kong action movies where characters engage in Mexican standoffs not so much to ratchet up excitement or generate tension but rather to look cool for as long as possible. To’s main characters — a pack of childhood friends-turned-gangsters on opposite sides of the gun, posed more than once to look like the guys from The Wild Bunch — make unloading their weapons look like an especially silly form of interpretative dance.
