9-10 PM · CBS · Debuts Sept. 28

CONCEPT A nice-enough vampire (The Shield‘s Alex O’Loughlin) plays a nice-enough private detective.

THE SCOOP Since getting picked up by CBS, Moonlight was rewritten and almost entirely recast, with Veronica Mars‘ Jason Dohring joining the ensemble. Along the way, exec producer David Greenwalt (Angel) dropped out for ”personal reasons.” Still, O’Loughlin is keeping a vampiric cool. ”It’s like I’ve been given a second chance,” says the actor, who’s modestly upbeat at being the lone holdover. ”So often in this industry, my job is to audition, essentially. My job is to accept people telling me I’m not good enough for their job. So to hear someone say you are good enough is a wonderful validation.”

BOTTOM LINE You are good enough, Alex. Now, about the show. We haven’t seen either version of the pilot, but from our experience, something this drastically altered either soars or sucks.
