The biggest upcoming projects in entertainment

+ John Leguizamo will star opposite Mark Wahlberg in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening, reportedly about a family on the run from natural disaster. ”I’m a high school math teacher,” says Leguizamo, ”and Mark’s my best friend.”

+ Maria Full of Grace‘s Catalina Sandino Moreno will play wife to Benicio Del Toro’s Ernesto ”Che” Guevara in The Argentine and Guerrilla, two Spanish-language dramas from director Steven Soderbergh. ”She was a very tough woman,” says Moreno of her character. ”That’s what Che loved about her.”

+ The ink on the deal was not quite dry at press time, but Zachary Quinto (Heroes) is expected to be cast as the new Mr. Spock in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek, due out on Christmas 2008.

+ Goldie Hawn will produce and possibly star in an ABC drama pilot based on the book Leap! What Will We Do With the Rest of Our Lives? Marta Kauffman (Friends) is expected to write the episode. — Additional reporting by Vanessa Juarez
