Gleefully oblivious to the late-’70s malaise that surrounds them, teens (including Joan of Arcadia‘s Jason Ritter and The O.C.‘s Autumn Reeser) in Shelbyville, Tenn., anxiously await a visit from a homegrown movie star in Our Very Own. While Janney is compelling as the wife of an alcoholic (Carradine), first-time writer-director Cameron Watson clutters the film with quirky characters and superfluous story lines. The resulting portrait of Shelbyville — Watson’s hometown — is charmingly nostalgic but only sporadically engaging. EXTRAS None. B
