Now that Bob Barker (pictured) has taped his last Price is Right (airs June 15) — and GSN has announced that Dennis Miller will host its summer offering Grand Slam, a comprehensive single-elimination tournament featuring Ken Jennings and 15 other less famous former game-show winners — it seems like a fine time to debate the title of Best Game Show Ever. (Though please, also feel free to discuss whether Grand Slam marks the end of Miller’s career, or sounds like a fun, twisted gig for the verbal sniper. I’m a hung jury.)

While I enjoy Press Your Luck, Match Game, and Newlywed Game (and understand why Jeopardy! is special because it’s fun and educational), I’m gonna go with Bob and The Price is Right. Remember how nervous you’d be watching to see whether the mountain climber would stop before he walked off the cliff? Whether the contestant would sink the putt? Whether you paid too much for your new TV? That’s quality drama.
