For the past nine-and-a-half years, I’ve been able to sleep comfortably every night, safe in my knowledge that the Titanic sank and there’s no way for James Cameron to make a sequel to his flippin’ movie. And then… ack! I logged onto yesterday morning and looked at my colleague Mike Bruno’s News Roundup and saw that my worst fears are about to come true. Well, okay, actually, only sort of. The word from Hollywood’s trade papers is that Kathy Bates has signed on to costar in Sam Mendes’ 1950s-era domestic drama Revolutionary Road opposite her former shipmates, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Great actors, all, of course, but together… I’m just not sure I want to go there once more.

Still, there are a lot of other terrific casts that I’d like to see team up again. You know, just like the Boogie Nights/Magnolia bunch did, or the comedic team behind A Fish Called Wanda/Fierce Creatures. For example, I’d just about die to see Tom Cruise (pictured, right), Anthony Edwards (left), Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, wonder twins Skerritt and Ironside, and everybody else from The Greatest Movie Of All Time, Top Gun, reconvene for anything — drama, comedy, action flick, whatever. So, hey, PopWatchers, which group of actors has you once again feeling the need, the need for speed?
