A charming concept and a cast of first-rate funnymen, including Dick Van Dyke and Ricky Gervais, are squandered in Night at the Museum, a flat family adventure-comedy about a security guard (Ben Stiller) at New York’s Museum of Natural History who tries to maintain order as the exhibits come to life at night. Stiller is a game lead, but the plot has more bare bones than the museum’s T. rex. EXTRAS include a back-patting commentary by director Shawn Levy and enough Gervais footage to make another — probably funnier — movie. C-
