To Care or Not to Care: 'Simple Life,' 'The Mummy 3,' etc.
The trades and other entertainment news sites were a particularly frightening read this morning. Let’s play a little game we like to call To Care or Not to Care.
‘The Mummy 3’ finds its villain: Jet Li is in talks to play the Mummy in the Rob Cohen-directed second sequel. The action is set in China, and… wait, I definitely do not care. (Although I will admit that a few years back, I walked through a Mummy attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood and screamed like a preteen.)
Jamie Kennedy and Lee Majors join forces for Fox’s Me & Lee? pilot: I’d have expected myself to care, but somehow after digesting The Hollywood Reporter‘s description, I just don’t. Me & Lee? ”centers on a guy (Kennedy) with chronic back pain who gets more than he bargained for when he undergoes ‘bionic’ back surgery in a secret lab run by actor Lee Majors (playing himself) in the basement of his Beverly Hills mansion. Majors built the lab after becoming obsessed with bionics after Man went off the air.” Too crazy?
Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie will be camp counselors for new season of The Simple Life on E!: I like crap TV, and even I stopped watching this show. Does anyone still care?
TV Land developing show reuniting Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams: According to TVWeek’s Mel’s Diner blog, the former Laverne & Shirley costars will play themselves in the “loosely scripted” show. The pilot, set to film next month, is said to have the duo living together in Penny’s house. This, I could conceivably care about on a raining Saturday afternoon. If there was nothing on Lifetime or We.
