I just checked in with our old friend-in-fright RobertEnglund (a.k.a. Freddy Krueger) to talk about his new horror flick, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, which opens tomorrow. (Watch for my full Q&A with the star on tomorrow as well.) But toward the end of our chat, Englund (pictured) hinted that hisfamous alter ego — last seen in 2003’s Freddyvs. Jason — may yet return to theaters. “There definitely is [talk of doinganother movie],” he said. “The problem was we spent, like, six months trying tomake it happen with [Evil Dead’s] SamRaimi and Bruce Campbell as Freddy vs.Jason vs. Ash, which I thought was a great idea. But I think Sam wanted Ashto win, and I think that that was the falling off point. Now I understandthere’s been some discussion with John Carpenter, which means there might be afusion with the Halloween movies. Onthe other hand, there’s been some discussion with John McNaughton, thedirector [of Henry: Portrait of aSerial Killer], which leads me to believe there might be a prequel; JohnMcNaughton would certainly be the guy if it were going to be documentary style.”Oh, so many options! C’mon, PopWatchers, let’s help them make up their minds!
