Okay, I don’t care if Tami Gosnell’s lip is pierced or her hair’s a little stringy (as some folks on our TV Watch message boards seem to). Last time I checked, she was auditioning for American Idol, not Miss America, and last night, said audition to the Allman Brothers’ “Whipping Post,” rocked my world (you know it did). Even better, when I googled Tami this morning, I discovered she’s got an independently released CD and a Web site that features 11 self-penned tracks. I’m especially digging the raucous ”Horse of Course” and the mournful “New Town Fairy” (which has a video streaming at YouTube — thanks to Delon for the heads up!). Give her stuff a listen and tell me it doesn’t kick the ass of “Do I Make You Proud” and “A Moment Like This.” Put this woman in the top 24 already!

The official web site of another season six contendah, Denise Richards lookalike Baylie Brown (pictured), appears to have been shut down since she appeared on Idol’s Tuesday night San Antonio episode (streaming at YouTube), but you can hear some of her independently released material at CD Baby. Admittedly, there’s something a tad off-putting about hearing a 16-year-old sing tracks like “Feeling Single, Seeing Double,” but the girl ain’t half bad, especially on “Big Trouble.” If she maintains that likeable attitude, she could be part of Fox’s Tuesday- and Wednesday-night lineups well into the spring.

So tell me PopWatchers, do you think these two gals have the pipes for Idol’s big stage, or will they be weeded out during Hollywood week? Holla back!
