I tend to forget how much I love Kevin Costner until about 3 p.m. on the Friday he has a movie coming out. Then, without fail, I find myself overcome with the desire to see him again. (I also, undoubtedly, discover that my friends and cornered colleagues all have “other plans.”)

I’ve heard about the Kevin Costner Band before, but it wasn’t until I was forwarded this link — announcing that they’ll play a pre-race concert at Feb. 25’s Auto Club 500 at California Speedway — that I remembered I really need to hear them. (Guess that means he’s not going to the Oscars.) According to the press release (which also names the Oscar winner the Grand Marshal of the NASCAR Nextel Cup race), his six-piece rock band “made its public debut in August 2006 at the Field of Dreams film site in Dyersville, Iowa, drawing thousands of fans. Since then, they have played numerous venues across the country.” And yet, no one has posted a clip on YouTube? How can that be? Seriously, Iowa. Hook. Me. Up.
