When his ”free-spirited” mother dies, 6-year-old Vito must raise his illegitimate Canadian half-sister on his cuckolded Italian father’s Ontario farm. Eighteen years, two family secrets, and one suicide later, let’s just say he can (and does) sleep with her. Lazy symbolism (tomato sauce = blood), lack of imagination (Italians = bad tempers and promiscuity), and a bigoted moral (”If you don’t want to be called a WOP, why do you act like one?”) dog Lives of the Saints, a TV adaptation of Nino Ricci’s immigration trilogy and mask Sophia Loren’s predictably good turn as Vito’s emotionally distant aunt. EXTRAS None. D
