'Saturday Night Live': Thinking outside the 'Box'

I’m excited for the return of SNL this weekend, and not just because THE SHINS are playing — I think the show was picking up some serious creative momentum before the holidays, and I want to see if they can keep it up.

Of course, the standout moment for SNL in 2006 was “D–k in a Box,” or, as it is more commonly known in my household, “Thank God, now we can stop talking about ‘Lazy Sunday.'” So, as a bit of a mental and emotional warm-up for this weekend’s 2007 premiere, I trotted over to YouTube and rounded up some of the “D–k in a Box” knock-offs. I encourage you to watch them, sit for a moment in quiet contemplation, and once again appreciate that while SNL sometimes sucks, at least it doesn’t suck this badly.
