The last time we saw Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), he’d just exposed the U.S. president as a terrorist-enabling criminal. But before he could collect the kudos, our favorite superagent was kidnapped, beaten, and trapped on a boat bound for Asia. Can you imagine a worse day? The folks behind Fox’s 24 can.

THE PREMISE The country is facing ”a wave of terror attacks,” says executive producer Howard Gordon of the Jan. 14 premiere. ”It’s an escalating crisis, and Jack is brought back to help.” Well, naturally! But even Bauer can’t save the U.S. from the belly of a ship. ”He’s back from China…but he’s been traded secretly.”
