If you’ve turned on your television at any point in the past two months, then you’ve most likely been subjected to this holiday season’s diamond commercial.

I hate it.

Okay, I take it back. I love it. It makes me cry every time. It’s 90 percent the song: Cat Power’s cover of Cat Stevens’ “How Can I Tell You” (watch a Stevens performance here). Cat Power’s version is so whispery and tender that it feels like a hug and a love letter all at once. And it’s 10 percent the dude — is he not just the cutest thing ever? Closing the window to keep the cold out, fetching the necklace that he’s hidden in the grandfather clock, putting the jewels on his lady, and then pretending to be asleep when she wakes up in squinty shock. I’m practically welling up just thinking about it.

Anyway, riddle me this, PopWatchers: Do I have a pitifully low crying threshold, or are there others out there who’ve teared up over the 2006 diamond ad? Tell me I’m not alone!
