Linkin Park
The mega metal act haven’t released a studio album since ’03, but they’ve hardly been slacking. The sextet laid down more than 100 rough demos for their still-untitled third full-length, which is due sometime in spring ’07. Bearded boardsman Rick Rubin is co-producing at his mansion/studio in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills.

Kelly Rowland
Over the past year, the former Destiny’s Child singer has been crafting her sophomore solo album at studios across the country. Scheduled for release next summer, Ms. Kelly will feature collaborations with heavyweights like Scott Storch, ”London Bridge” producer Polow Da Don, Snoop Dogg, and Rockwilder.

Patti Smith
The punk poet tackles music by artists old (Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix) and new (the Decemberists) on an all-covers record tentatively set for March. Smith will be assisted by impressive musicians like Flea, Paul Simonon (the Clash), and Tom Verlaine (Television), as well as her children Jesse and Jackson.
