+ Will Ferrell and Woody Harrelson are going Semi-Pro, a comedy set in the final year of the American Basketball Association about the Flint (Mich.) Tropics, a ragtag ABA team whose owner, Jackie Moon (Ferrell), hopes to take them to the NBA. ”He’s a player, the coach,” says director Kent Alterman. ”He announces the team. He sings the song at halftime.”

+ But is he faster than a speeding bullet? That’s right, Superman Returns, again! Warner Bros. signed Bryan Singer to produce and direct a sequel to his Man of Steel box office disappointment. A script and budget are still forthcoming.

+ Sarah Jessica Parker has hopped aboard Smart People, replacing Rachel Weisz as an ER doc who treats an antisocial English prof (Dennis Quaid). Raves producer Michael London (Sideways): ”She’s able to be dysfunctional and incredibly charming at the same time.” The same could be said of Thomas Haden Church, who’ll costar as Quaid’s ne’er-do-well brother.
