Flip-flopper alert! Rob Lowe (pictured) is slated to join the cast of Brothers & Sisters as a Republican senator — a far cry from his West Wing character, liberal idealist Sam Seaborn. He’ll be a romantic interest for Calista Flockhart’s Kitty, a part-time Republican TV personality and full-time (actually, often overtime) sister/daughter. I’ve kept up with B&S this whole season, but I’m much more likely to stick around to watch these two lovebirds wear coordinated sweaters and talk about Bush.

In other unlikely news, 50 Cent and Robert De Niro will co-star (go ahead, reread those last few words and gasp!) as police partners in New Orleans, a post-Hurricane Katrina buddy-cop thriller. The rapper made his film debut in last year’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’, but his autobiographical character wasn’t too much of a stretch. So can he hold his own against a great? He’ll definitely want to reexamine the lyrics to his first hit single, “How to Rob.”
