The film of David Mamet’s play, Edmond, about a meek businessman (Macy) who goes on a sudden, ferocious tear is marred by a lack of motivation for his worst behavior, but redeemed by witty sordidness and some marvelously nuanced acting by Macy, Stiles, and Rebecca Pidgeon. EXTRAS
Commentaries include a laconic one from Mamet: great stretches of silence interrupted by the writer muttering things like ”Oh, dear” and ”God, I’m funny sometimes, I must say.” He also reveals a funny, if mean, term for a waitress/actress: ”wacktress.”
