Lucky Number Slevin is certainly Tarantinoesque — bullets and blood galore, too many plot twists — but ultimately emerges as a cool crime thriller. Director Paul McGuigan mixes oversaturated hues and jittery jump cuts with frisky screwball comedy. Hartnett is the object of a ”bona fide case of mistaken identity” between warring gangsters (Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley). EXTRAS Witty deleted scenes, plus a commentary track where McGuigan mocks Slevin‘s ungainly title. ”It’s like having an ugly child,” he says. ”You learn to love it.”
