It’s hard to think of two recent pop singers more different than Justin Timberlake and Kurt Cobain. So try not to strain yourself wrapping your mind around the notion that Timberlake has been covering Nirvana’s ”Smells Like Teen Spirit” in concert recently. ”I’m sure Cobain rolls over twice [in his grave] every time I play it,” JT reportedly said recently, ”but screw it.” It’s no wonder that these video clips Stereogum found of recent live Timberlake versions of the song are so brief and of such poor audio and visual quality. Obviously, no camera could record more than a few seconds of these performances without exploding out of shock and mortification. Watch at your own risk.
