As yet another album by a bedroom-eyed, tousle-haired singer-songwriter, Pete Yorn’s 2001 debut, musicforthemorningafter, had a comfortably familiar feel to it — all strummy guitars and lovelorn lyrics. And while there’s much of the troubled-troubador vibe in effect on Nightcrawler — ”Vampyre” could be a long-lost Elliott Smith song and ”The Man” a Ryan Adams B side — Yorn and his lazy-day delivery also manage to hop between dance pop (”Georgie Boy”) and lovely synth ballads (”Same Thing”) with surprising ease.
