Which reality TV star should get a scripted series?

What reality TV star do you think has the chops to act in his or her own series? —Lauren T.

Ah, isn’t that so often the irony of reality series? These folks who desperately want to be famous strut and sulk and beg for us to look — but they can hold the camera only by performing the equivalent of stupid human tricks, underscoring why they’ll never be working actors (although I’ll admit The Real World‘s Jacinda Barrett may be an exception — she was surprisingly unannoying in her annoying ”save my kid!” role in this summer’s Poseidon). Conversely, the C-list actors who pop up on reality shows often remind us exactly why they have stopped working. And then there’s… Tina Yothers. Yes, I’m talking Yothers — the former child actor who played precocious Jennifer on Family Ties in the ’80s. Now all grown up, with a husband, a baby, and a few pounds to lose, she’s a natural, earthy calorie-counter on VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club 4. With her innate likability, easy laugh, and throaty voice, the actress/musician/former talk show host (RIP Tina Yothers Show, 1991-1991) could play Catherine Keener’s sister in a good comedy.
