Don’t look for OutKast’s André ”Andre 3000” Benjamin to tell you much about his Prohibition-era musical about two speakeasy performers costarring his musical partner in crime, Antwan ”Big Boi” Patton. ”I actually shot Idlewild before the other movies that people have seen — [2005’s] Four Brothers and Revolver — so I don’t remember what I did in the movie,” says Grammy winner Benjamin. Allow us to fill you in. Filmed in late 2004 (and held to accommodate the duo’s accompanying album of the same name), Idlewild follows two childhood friends (Benjamin and Patton) as they contend with gangsters and needy paternal figures, all while nattily dressed, of course. The glitzy extravaganza also features dance sequences choreographed by three-time Tony winner Hinton Battle. Hotcha!
