In the recent animated-film tradition of every-animal-but-fish out of water, Open Season‘s misplaced creature is a domesticated bear (Martin Lawrence) who gets deposited in the woods. And you just know that he and his new feral pals (including Ashton Kutcher as a one-antlered deer) are going to team up to make a human (Gary Sinise’s evil poacher, Shaw) look like a boob. It’s a story that could have been adapted from a young Kutcher’s hunting days back in Iowa: ”I’ve been in Shaw’s boots, where you’re convinced the animals are working against you as a team.”
