Our favorite scenes in Adult Swim’s ”Metalocalypse”

The cartoon metal band Dethklok — who star in Adult Swim’s new series Metalocalypse (debuting Aug. 6) — may be fictional, but their music-industry antics are not so far-fetched. Take a look.

SELLING OUT
Dethklok The band shills for Duncan Hills coffee by providing a hard-rocking single that’s also a jingle; the musical ode to ”ultimate flavor” helps put every competitor out of business. Real Life Kelly Clarkson belts her single (and Ford’s ad song) ”Go” on her current tour while a video of Clarkson racing Ford Mustangs against a duplicate Kelly plays on a Jumbotron.

PLUSH TOUR DIGS
Dethklok The boys fly from gig to gig on a hovercraft complete with a personal chef, a dungeon that doubles as a dining room, and a cellar stocked with fine Norwegian wines. Real Life In 2001, Britney Spears hit the road one more time on a reported $850,000 tour bus replete with leather couches, private shower, queen-size bed, and satellite television.

STUDIO STANDOFFS
Dethklok After spending $500 million recording — and deleting — 16 albums, singer Nathan Explosion refuses to release the band’s latest CD, causing the Dow Jones to tumble and fans to commit suicide. Real Life In 1994, Axl Rose began recording Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy. Twelve years in, it’s cost a reported $13 million. There’s still no release date.
