Punky Power is stretched to new, ludicrous heights in Season Three, as Little-Orphan-Annie-of-the-’80’s (Soleil Moon Frye) inspires one obese child to lose weight, counsels best friend Cherie through mourning, and helps daddy Henry (George Gaynes) kick his sleeping pill addiction. These needlessly serious plots incite no increase in Frye’s range and her childish charm begins its decent into tweenage affectation. EXTRAS Skimpy. Ten forgettable episodes of the neon rainbow madness that was the short-lived Saturday morning cartoon It’s Punky Brewster! — and no cast interviews — will leave you feeling punk’d.
