This Minneapolis quartet is living the dream of every basement band. Blogger raves helped them sell 10,000 copies of their self-produced CD The Loon; now the respected indie label XL is rereleasing the album. T’NT’s jumpy guitar rock resembles underground pioneers like the Pixies and Pavement, down to singer Josh Grier’s inscrutable croaks and warbles. But they don’t rely solely on mimicry. The Loon excites with twisty guitar tangents (”In Houston”), an airtight country two-step (”Insistor”), and commanding choruses that Grier belts out with the fervor of a preacher.
