This just in from the Office of Ambitious Idol Also-Rans (Season 4 Department): Fourth-place finisher Anthony “A.Fed” Fedorov and sixth-place Constantine Maroulis (pictured) are working on their debut CDs. According to MTV News, Fedorov is describing his disc as ”Richard Marx meets Marc Anthony,” while Maroulis is aiming for ”a bit of a Rob Thomas/Santana thing. It’s got some great Bon Jovi elements, a little Ricky Martin in there.” This bulletin led to a conversation between my colleague Connie Yu and myself about the exact mathematical formulas these two marginally popular singers are likely to concoct. (Connie tackled Constantine, while I took on A.Fed.) Check out our theories after the jump, but first, post your own equations — and see if we’re all on the same page.

Bon Jovi x [(Rob Thomas + Santana) ÷ Ricky Martin] ÷ Constantine Maroulis = total s—

Rick Astley x [(Richard Marx + Marc Anthony) ÷ Tavares] – soul = Anthony Fedorov
