Radio gossip Ritz Harper has been shot on an NYC sidewalk. The culprit could be a TV news anchor, a Baptist minister, a gangsta rapper, a notorious drug kingpin, or any of the boldfaced names she’s disgraced on air. Part roman à clef, part mystery, and totally tacky, Drama is Her Middle Name, a joint venture by syndicated radio host Wendy Williams and On the Down Low coauthor Karen Hunter, kicks off a new series (which probably means Harper doesn’t die). Her fate, and her assailant’s identity, will be revealed in the next book — due in ’07 — but the greater mystery is why anyone would care about this heinously obnoxious heroine.
