The Rolling Stones announced on May 24 that they would postpone the first 15 dates of a European tour scheduled to begin three days later. The band is giving guitarist Keith Richards, 62, more time to recover from a head injury he suffered last month in Fiji.
Giving new meaning to the term tree hugger, folk singer Joan Baez, 65, Daryl Hannah (Kill Bill), 45, and activist Julia ”Butterfly” Hill, 32, took up residence in an L.A. tree to protest a May 16 court ruling that would evict the caretakers of one of the country’s largest community gardens so it can be turned into a commercial development. Burbank police arrested hip-hop star The Game (né Jayceon Taylor), 26, on May 20 after allegedly finding brass knuckles in his Bentley. The rapper, who could not be reached for comment, was released on $20K bail and has yet to be charged.

A California judge rejected the King of Pop’s appeal regarding her parental rights…. Martha Stewart, 64, may be out of jail, but her troubles aren’t over. In a response she filed on May 25 to a suit brought against her by the SEC that would end her career as a CEO, Stewart claims she acted ”in good faith” when she infamously sold ImClone shares in 2001…. On May 26, CBS Radio settled for $2 million in its breach-of-contract suit against former employee Howard Stern, who left terrestrial radio for Sirius Satellite Radio in January.
Rapper Beanie Sigel (né Dwight Grant), 32, was shot on May 25 in a South Philadelphia neighborhood after, police say, five men robbed him of about $50,000 worth of bling. Sigel drove himself to a local hospital and has since been released.
