Sorkin's 'Studio 60' gets a green light
- TV Show
As handicappers might have predicted, of the two dueling backstage-at-Saturday Night Live pilots NBC was considering, Aaron Sorkin’s Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip was picked up first as a fall 2006 series. Given the hour-long drama’s pedigree — West Wing‘s Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme behind the camera, Matthew Perry in front of it — it would have been surprising if NBC didn’t pick it up. It’s good for those of us who long to see Sorkin writing for TV again, but I’m crossing my fingers that they pick up Tina Fey’s untitled sitcom as well. As NBC execs have said, there’s room for both, and NBC certainly could use more comedies. Plus, I want to see Alec Baldwin play a scary, not-all-there network boss.
The original late-night comedy sketch show from the one and only Lorne Michaels.
