Fox and Marvel Comics thought the plot was so close to X-Men‘s that they filed a suit last June; it was withdrawn after filmmakers tweaked the script. ”You have no idea how many times they’d come to us and say ‘You can’t do this. You can’t wear sunglasses, because Cyclops does,”’ recalls Tim Allen, who plays ex-superhero Captain Zoom and promises a Galaxy Quest edge. ”We’re not competing against X-Men. Zoom is obviously a satire.”
