Trailers: 'The Omen,' 'John Tucker Must Die'
I like to think of PopWatch as a no-shame zone, a place where you can hum Britney Spears’ ”Toxic” and profess your love of crap classics like Sweet November. I mention this because I’m probably more excited about a couple of new trailers than I actually should be:
– The Omen (June 6) The new Russian trailer for this horror remake (pictured) has been leaked to the Web, and while it contains all your basic skin-crawling elements, it leaves me with one important question (which must be asked in the voice of Project Runway‘s silver fox Tim Gunn): ”Where’s Damian?” Far creepier is this pared-down teaser featuring a boy, a swing, and a puppy. Watch it, and then cry for mommy.
– John Tucker Must Die (July 28) So many pop-culture mysteries answered in one movie: Can American Dreams‘ Brittany Snow actually open a movie? Is that shirtless dude from the first season of Desperate Housewives finished? Can Ashanti act better than she sings? Is Jenny McCarthy the cinematic kiss of death? Based on this surprisingly funny trailer, I’m betting the answers are yes, no, thank heavens yes, and probably too soon to tell. Of course, the most important question of all is this: Who’s planning on seeing it? (Yeah, you can probably count me in.)
