Our resident Oscar expert already has a few nominees, sight unseen:

All The King’s Men — Sean Penn and Jude Law, in a new adaptation of the Robert Penn Warren classic. (The original won the Oscar in 1949.)

Dreamgirls — Chicago scribe Bill Condon’s screen transfer of the 1981 Michael Bennett musical.

The Good German — A Stephen Soderbergh/George Clooney prestige noir.

The Good Shepherd (pictured) — Robert De Niro directs Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie in a history of the CIA.

The Good German Shepherd — Kidding! Though they can be lovely dogs. Bad hips, though.

Stranger Than Fiction — A Charlie Kaufman-esque Will Ferrell comedy, helmed by Finding Neverland‘s Marc Forster.

What, no Garfield 2? I’m outraged, Karger. We shall have stern words in the breakroom.

Go get ’em, readers. Who’s really gonna win?
