Was Round 20 a tough one? Mos Def-initely! Most of this week’s 586 players expected one of his two new films — 16 Blocks and Dave Chappelle’s Block Party — to wrap up the weekend in first place. But those predictions slammed into a big stumbling Block: a steep ”Crash” in Oscar-weekend visits to the multiplex. The reduced traffic gave Madea an opening to enjoy a surprise reunion with the box-office crown it first claimed a week earlier. Only 97 film-loving fortune-tellers correctly predicted Madea‘s staying power; 11 of them built on that foresight to score 5-out-of-7. Add one player who missed Madea at No. 1 but still managed to score a 5, and we had a dozen high-scorers — but no perfection. (Nine of our 12 pacesetters also iced the always tricky ”None of the Above” selection required when ”Eight Below” finished at No. 3.) Round 21 offers players a fresh start, with three potentially strong newcomers promising a changing of the guard at the top of the box-office chart. Will audiences embrace romantic comedy ”Failure To Launch”? Will gorefest ”The Hills Have Eyes” make a killing? Or will family flick ”The Shaggy Dog” lick the competition? Consult the tea leaves, and see if you’ll be the one to brew up that elusive perfect score next week!
