As Far As the Eye Can See

It’s hard out there for a Brit. These days, U.K. bands coveting NME‘s cover seem to have two options: Go post-punk arch (see Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs) or go home. Cardiff, Wales’ People in Planes, though, find a retread road less traveled. Their debut, As Far as the Eye Can See…, looks to Radiohead’s atmospheric ooze and Muse’s bombast — which serves them well enough on the trippy melodics of ”If You Talk Too Much” and ”Moth,” but raises the question: What would be wrong with sounding like…themselves?
