ENGAGED Weezer singer Rivers Cuomo, 35, will marry girlfriend Kyoko Ito in L.A. after he earns his undergraduate English degree from Harvard this June. To his fiancée’s relief, Cuomo, a stalwart celibate for two years, isn’t anymore.

POSTPONED If you listened closely on March 15, you could hear nerds gently weeping as Sony announced that the PlayStation 3‘s release date would be bumped from spring to November ’06. Sony hopes to blunt disappointment by stressing that the PS3 will be fitted with new DVD technology.

HIRED On March 16, Marc Shmuger and David Linde were named chair and co-chair of Universal Pictures, respectively. They will replace Stacey Snider, who left for DreamWorks in February. Speaking of DreamWorks…

SOLD Paramount has handed over DreamWorks’ 59-title library to Soros Strategic Partners and Dune Entertainment for the low, low price of $900 million. Surely, Old School alone is worth that much.

CONTROVERSY Despite declaring that he’d no longer play South Park‘s Chef due to religious reasons, Scientologist Isaac Hayes — or at least his voice — was noticeably present in the March 22 season premiere. How? SP creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker used old Chef audio and wrote the script around the sound bites.

COURTS A Tennessee judge issued an injunction on March 17 prohibiting Sean Combs‘ Bad Boy Entertainment from selling or distributing any further copies of the Notorious B.I.G.‘s 1994 track ”Ready to Die.” Two music companies that own the rights to ”Singing in the Morning” by the Ohio Players contend the song was illegally sampled. Bad Boy Entertainment could not be reached for comment…. Joseph Reitman, 37, estranged husband of Shannon Elizabeth, 32, filed a breach-of-contract suit against the actress on March 14 in L.A. Reitman asserts that Elizabeth owes him half of everything she acquired while they were a couple before they wed in ’02. Elizabeth’s reps could not be reached for comment…. Chicago producer Martin Richards, 74, filed suit on March 20 in NYC against Miramax claiming he’s owed profits from the 2002 film. Richards is seeking at least $10 million from the studio. A rep for Miramax said they’ve yet to see the suit, and, as such, could not comment.

RECOVERING Napoleon Dynamite‘s Lord of the Dance, Jon Heder, 28, recently broke his ankle while training for the ice-skating comedy Blades of Glory, costarring Will Ferrell. Heder, champ that he is, still managed to start shooting this week. Take that, Michelle Kwan!
