Checks Thugs and Rock 'N Roll

How many hip-hop icons would have the cojones to recruit Sarah McLachlan for a reimagining of Harry Chapin’s ”Cat’s in the Cradle”? Darryl ”DMC” McDaniels, for one. All in all, his first solo CD, Checks Thugs and Rock ‘N Roll, is regrettably uneven, spreading some fairly rote rap tracks amid the Hendrix homages.
