Advice for ”American Idol” finalist Bucky Covington

WHAT’S WORKING The affable Bucky hasn’t given a single performance we’d describe as embarrassing, and his gruff, Southern-fried vocals can be a welcome respite from the show’s typical syrup overload?

WHAT NEEDS WORK …but Bucky has yet to bust out the kind of water-cooler vocal that will drive fans to the phones in droves. Plus, he’s got to put the kibosh on the dreaded ”Idol squat.”

FROCK U Given the fact that Bucky seems to have generally found his fashion comfort zone, I don’t think it’s necessary to reiterate that the Jessica Simpson blowout he attempted during week 1 of the finals is, from this point forward, strictly verboten.

REQUEST LIST Bob Seger’s ”Turn the Page,” Sade’s ”No Ordinary Love,” Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ”What’s Your Name”
