LEGACY Actor, singer, activist for the disabled, Dana Reeve, 44, died of lung cancer March 6. ”Sacrifice always seems to imply a bitterness,” said Reeve, who put her career on hold to care for spouse Christopher, who passed in ’04, ”but I don’t feel bitter…. I value my family more than anything.”

ARRESTED Singer Yanni, 51, was arrested in Manalapan, Fla., on March 2 for allegedly battering his girlfriend during a dispute. Following his release from jail, Yanni issued a statement calling the allegations ”cruel, false, without merit, and baseless.”
CONTROVERSY Fantastic Four‘s Jessica Alba, 25, is threatening Playboy with legal action after the magazine put a publicity shot of her on its March cover — which she claims created the impression she appears nude or partially nude inside (she does not). Alba is seeking damages and asking the mag — which was promoting its ”25 Sexiest Celebrities” list — to discontinue selling the issue. Says a Playboy rep: ”Many celebrities have appeared on the cover of Playboy, but not nude, including Barbra Streisand, Raquel Welch…and Jerry Seinfeld.”
SHOOTING Two security guards were injured after being shot at a Kanye West concert in Birmingham, England, on Feb. 28. The gunfire erupted after a man was denied entry to the show, although police are still investigating the motive. The gunman has not been apprehended.
COURTS Axl Rose, 44, filed a countersuit on March 3 against ex-Guns N’ Roses bandmates Slash, 40, and Michael ”Duff” McKagan, 42, to protect his ownership of GN’R property. Slash and McKagan filed suit against Rose in August 2005 claiming he was cheating them out of royalties…. Jeffrey Borer and Arvel Jett Reeves, accused of planning to sell footage of Michael Jackson they illegally videotaped during a November 2003 plane flight, pleaded guilty on March 6 in an L.A. court as part of a plea bargain. They each face a maximum of five years in prison…. The self-described ”star” of the Scott Stapp/Kid Rock sex tape filed suit on March 2 in Miami against Stapp, 32, and World Wide Red Light District. The woman, who goes by ”Jane Doe” in the papers, is seeking unspecified damages for ”wanton disregard of her name, character, and reputation” and claims Stapp leaked the tape…. Rapper Busta Rhymes, 33, was sued on Feb. 28 by a man claiming Rhymes and his bodyguard attacked him in a New York City deli in September 2005, leaving him with back and neck injuries. The man is seeking unspecified damages. Busta’s reps could not be reached for comment.
