There’s something weirdly noble in the way these Original Grungesters keep on keeping on in the face of mass indifference. Mudhoney’s saving grace is their sardonic worldview, which is as touchingly sick as ever amid the horn-spiked, bluesy arrangements of their ninth CD, Under a Billion Suns. ”We’re the empty shells of our former selves,” howls frontman Mark Arm. Don’t believe him.
