What could be worse for a young actor than losing out on the lead role in a hotly anticipated fall TV pilot? How about getting cast in said role only to be replaced a few weeks later? That’s the sad fate of Will Toale, who’d been chosen as the WB’s new Aquaman — that is, until the network announced its merger with UPN, then decided to ”go in a different direction,” according to a network spokesperson.

That ”new direction” led producers to Passions star Justin Hartley, who has only two acting credits listed on his IMDB page — that’s one shy of Toale’s three. I have to admit I’ve never caught Hartley’s daytime soap work, but a Google image search reveals he’s certainly got the abs for the job.
