For once, the nominated short films (live-action and animated) may be coming to a theater near you, as well as to several other platforms. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Magnolia Pictures and Shorts International have joined forces to bring a touring package to theaters in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Berkeley, Detroit, Atlanta, Seattle, Denver, Austin, Portland, Ore., and Chicago, with other cities to come. (Limited runs begin next weekend.) The shorts will also air on Magnolia’s HDNet cable channel, be released on DVD, and aptly enough, air on Shorts TV’s mobile phone service. No word on when or if they’ll show up online, but we’ll let you know.
