Alas, Best Actor nominee Terrence Howard (pictured) says he won’t be singing Hustle & Flow‘s nominated rap tune ”It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” at the Oscars. He tells it’ll be too hard to get back into character, and that he expects Three 6 Mafia, who wrote the song, will get to perform it. As for whether the Academy will embrace the rousing but R-rated song, Howard says, ”I’m ready to see the entire roomful of people in there singing ‘It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp.”’ He adds, ”If they know the words, then we really got a problem.”

If Howard (or his song) wins, he can toast his victory with one of several new cocktails that the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge has concocted in honor of this year’s Best Picture nominees. (Thanks to USA Today’s O-Factor Oscar blog for the tip.) After all, Howard also stars in Crash, whose mixed-drink tribute is The Carjacker, a pile-up of vodka, gin, rum, tequila, triple sec, sour mix, and fresh orange juice that’s sure to induce Crash-like behavior in anyone who even sips one before getting behind the wheel. Then there’s the Brokeback Mountain-themed Jolly Rancher, a mix of Ketel One vodka, Midori, and cranberry juice — sounds like a drink that women would like but that no straight man would touch. Me, I’d like to try Capote‘s In Cold Bloody Martini, a Bloody Mary-like drink made with Absolut’s Peppar and Citron vodkas. If the nominees and their dates drink a few of the Polo Lounge’s cocktails, they’ll surely have a Good Night, and Good Luck.
