After a long and winding road through distribution purgatory, Strangers With Candy, the movie adaptation of Amy Sedaris’ twisted Comedy Central series, has been picked up by THINKfilm for a June or July release date. If the flick is half as awesome as its cast (including Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick. Justin Theroux, and Stephen Colbert), or half as inspired as THINKfilm’s press release, we’re so there. ”At this important stage of our company’s development, we were looking for a film that combined all of the best qualities of Crash, Brokeback Mountain, and Capote,” said THINKfilm’s Mark Urman. ”Strangers With Candy has ethnic slurs, clandestine gay sex, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. What more could we want?”
