Credit that girl-on-girl-on-girl shower sequence. Of the 90.7 million viewers who watched Sunday’s Super Bowl XL (the second-biggest audience in broadcast history, in terms of TV households, behind only the fabled M*A*S*H series finale in 1983), some 38.1 million stuck around to watch ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. Not only is that Grey‘s biggest audience ever, it’s the biggest audience for any scripted-show episode since the Friends finale two years ago, and the third biggest crowd for any post-Super Bowl entertainment program of the last 20 years, after the Survivor 2 premiere in 2001 and the post-game Friends episode in 1996. Burning question, of course, is how many of those will come back this weekend for the resolution of the ”Code Black” bomb-threat cliffhanger (with special guest star Christina Ricci, above right, with Ellen Pompeo).
