THE LADIES IN RED Held annually to raise awareness about heart disease, the third installment of The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection runway show was mysteriously delayed for nearly an hour. No official explanation was given for the setback, but the front row was buzzing with rumors that it was because of an allegedly tardy celeb catwalker. Featuring some of the hottest women in music modeling designs by the biggest names in fashion, highlights included Lindsay Lohan in Calvin Klein (at left), Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas in Daniel Swarovski (at right), Blondie’s Deborah Harry in Donna Karan, Sheryl Crow in Ralph Lauren, and a show-stopping performance by Broadway diva Elaine Stritch.

NOT-SO-GHETTO PHABULOUS There are two reasons why Baby Phat mogul Kimora Lee Simmons’ runway shows are always a hot ticket: outrageous clothes and countless celebrities. Her latest collection is a tastefully restrained interpretation of the intersection where street meets chic, but the tent at Bryant Park remained packed with her famous friends and family. Spotted among the multitude of bold-faced names: American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, R&B kewpie dolls Mya and Christina Milian, rapper Fat Joe, and, of course, Simmons’ hubby Russell. Later, police arrived to maintain crowd control as throngs of invited guests were turned away from the unbearably congested afterparty at New York’s Boudoir, where KLS and Co. feted in a curtained-off VIP area, guarded by beefy men in black suits. WRAP IT UP The lighting equipment remained (thankfully) intact atDiane Von Furstenberg’s show, this year held in a Bryant Park tentinstead of her usual Meatpacking District venue. Susan Sarandon, DianeSawyer (and hubby Mike Nichols, above right, with Barry Diller) and Lorraine Bracco were among thecelebrities who showed up to support the wrap-dress maven’s latestcollection, entitled “Working Girl.” Replete with houndstooth andshoulder pads, it was easy to imagine Melanie Griffith’s ’80s corprateclimber modeling these ensembles — after her career-girl makeover, ofcourse. –Clarissa Cruz

STARRY NIGHT An abundance of pretty young things filled the frontrow of Badgely Mischka’s presentation at Bryant Park: Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child, American Idol-er CarrieUnderwood (above) and Elisabeth Rohm were among those who took in BM’ssignature glittery, red-carpet-ready creations. And while the rest ofthe fashion flock seemed oblivious to the fact that the Super Bowl wasbeing played, Underwood did give it a nod: “I figured it was Super BowlSunday, so I wanted to be comfortable,” she said, fingering her simpleblack tank.
